Made in Taiwan
Made in Taiwan, as the title implies, is shot in Taiwan over a period of 6 weeks during Arjan's internship at MHD. The editing is done by Martijn Halekor and the music is provided by Bas Septer (Substrate). The collaborative effort between these three creators has resulted in a 25 minutes long diabolo film. The 10 chapters contain Arjan's unique diabolo manipulations and innovative, technical diabolo juggling.
In july 2010, Arjan Groenendijk graduated at Codarts Circus Arts in his home town Rotterdam. As part of his studies he was given the opportunity to go on a guest-internship. The recent diabolo boost in Asian countries combined with Arjan's interest in Eastern diabolo culture made MHD the perfect place to visit. This gave him the opportunity to develop and film his diabolo material in a beautiful, foreign setting.
Martijn discovered his passion for film through the viewing and making of juggling videos. He's come a long way since his first webcam-recorded Movie Maker montage. Martijn is currently a student in Communication & Multimedia Design and is set to keep improving to perfect what he does best.
Bas Septer is a young producer with a steep learning curve. He released his first record in december 2009. The Never Neutral Remixtape is a beattape which contains remixes from several hip-hop artists. A year later, he has developed his sound and created his second album Lucid Dreams. The tracks used in Made in Taiwan are featured on the album, which will be released shortly.
